El Chico Mesquite Texas

I think we get comfortable in our own skin and forget what we get used to others find different.  Often when I am going out wearing a dress or skirt I wear a wig, unless I am going to work.  Last Friday I forgot and realized that it probably wasn’t the best of decisions.  Usually when I take my girls for Mexican it is in Greenville at Tamollys or Mexican Café or sometimes Tortilleria Mexico.  However last Friday I ended up taking my girls to their dentist in Dallas for a regular checkup.   On our way back we stopped at Town East Crossing area for some clothes shopping for the girls.  We happened to eat at El Chico in Mesquite Texas.  Going in as I kept getting stares I realized that here was me wearing a long skirt and makeup with two little girls and no wig.  Reagan asked to use the restroom after we were seated.  The waitress explained where it was but felt people maybe uncomfortable with me in the women’s restroom.  Explained it was for my 6 year old.  So I stood outside the door while Reagan went in and did her business talk about strange looks.  I got my share of them.  After she got done we went back to our table and ordered our food. Reagan ordered a taco all rice no beans.  Johnna the cheese enchilada and me the fajita for one.  When my fajita got their the two girls didn’t want their food they wanted mine so I got the Taco and Cheese Enchilada and they got fajitas.  I don’t think there was a waitress or bartender who didn’t stop by to see the guy in a skirt and two little girls.   The food was remarkably average the price was to high and didn’t really get to eat in peace.  Maybe others will have a better dining experience. 

Red Neck Heaven Lewsville Texas

I had driven by the Red Neck Heaven in Lewisville atleast a dozen or mroe times well last Friday I decided to go on in and give it a try.  For those who may not know Red Neck heaven is like Hooters in that it is foodtainment.  Restaurants with entertainment and visual capabilities.  The first thing I noticed when I went to Red Neck Heaven is the motorcycle in the middle of the restaurant, it is an awesome bike.  I went in and a young lady named Morgan asked to seat me she was pleseant and eager to help.  I ordered the Jalapeno Bottlecaps as a appetizer and Pimp my Sandwich.  My waitress was pleasant but as she had multiple tables she was working many people at the same time and spent just a few minutes with me.  which overall is OK, aparently guys in dresses are not a regularity because I had waitresses coming out of the woodworks to serve me or help me I thanked them.  Apparently I am immidating as one of waitresses walked up and asked me if I wanted to enter a drawing and she wanted to know my name.  I asked her if this was more legal purposes or informal.  She didnt understand why, and advised it was informal.  I gave her the information and waited on my food.  Jalapeno bottle caps had alittle bit of a bite but were good and the Pimp my sandwich was good as well.  I got up to use the restroom and was walking over to it.  When one of the waitresses advised me the womens restroom was over there, I asked her for sure because I didnt want to cause any problems.  She advised there were no problems.  Overall the food is food servie is good if you are in lewisville adn looking for restaurantainment stop at Red Neck Heaven. 

Old Chicago

Last Thursday I had a meal at Old Chicago I had a meeting a Southern Methodist and ran a few errands.  It was about 8pm so I decided to drop by and get a meal.  The place I deided was Old Chicago I had eaten at the locations in Phoenix and OKC so I figured I knew the food and it wouldnt be that bad.  They were not really busy but OK.  I went in.  I was just leaving work so I was wearing a long maxy dress with a jacket.  Their was a nip in the air plus my arms look like two sides of beef.   I go in the server is moderatly nice she could have been better but nice was ok.  She took my order I ordered an Ice-T and a peperoni calzone.  While waiting on my food I heard the call of nature and as such I requested to use the restroom.  I am always aware and try not to cause the restaurant problems.  The manager advised that if I could pee standing up they would appreciate me using the mens restroom.  I thanked her for her time I went on in.  I used the mens and walked over to the urinal and used it.  As I was peeing a customer came in and was thrown aback by a guy in a dress peeing at the urinal.  I went ahead and finished what I was doing and went back o my table.  The manager had let me know there was some concern as a customer saw me use the urinal I assured her I followed her instructions.  She stated the customer felt uncomfortable, I agreed to understand but reminded her I did what she asked.  She accused me of being unreasonable and to a certain extent I was, but I felt like she handled it poorly so did I.

When I got back my food was ready I ate my food the calzone was alittle greasy if you like greasy calzone this is the place.  Overally except the restroom everthing else went ok  The food was OK and the service good if you are in that neck of the woods and feel like eating I suggest it but dotn drive across town.

Twin Peaks

Wednesday evening I found myself in North Dallas running late after a meeting at work not having eaten I was starving so I decided to go to twin Peaks to get a bite to eat.  For those who don't know Twin Peaks is similar to hooters in the type of restaurant it is but their menu is a little more diverse.

Leaving work I was wearing a cowl neck dress nothing to revealing and went on into Twin Peaks to get some food.  The young lady that seated me was pleasant, she asked me if I was there for the Halloween costume contest and since I didn't know what that was I inquired, she let me know that they were having a Halloween contest.  I advised that I didn't wear a costume.

I generally like to sit in an area away from the bar but in this instance I was sat close to the bar.  The young lady that assisted me (Madison I think) she was pleasant.  She took my order I ordered an light beer she offered it in two sizes she encouraged me to get the larger size so I went ahead and ordered the larger size and an Iced-T.  For an appetizer I ordered the fried pickles and ordered the blacken fish tacos for dinner.

After getting my appetizer my waitress disappeared and went to another table of young men and hung out with them.  I am not the jealous type but not want to feel neglected either.  My Ice T went empty 2 times and was that way for a while before she came back by.

 Another waitress while I was eating the fish tacos came by and made small talk she was friendly asking me if I lived in the area and I explained I lived in Greenville and was there for work.  She asked what I did I advised I worked for the CDC.  That always seems to draw people in.  She asked me about me.  She asked my name I told her Danika but explained that was not legal yet so when she got my credit card everything would be OK.  She asked me why Danika and she didn't know any Danikas.  I explained not she did.  She asked the normal questions I get asked top or bottom surgery or both I explained just top.  She asked how big I explained Double DDs she assured me they looked real and Double DDs I assured her they were.      

Overall the fried pickles for tasty and the fish tacos were flavorful.  The food was good.


If you happen to be in Addison Texas and are craving some good American food, and pleasant surrounding  I urge you to go the the Twin Peaks. 

Welcome

There are two realities I have become accustom to first you dont get to be size 16-18 with liking to eat and I like eating.  Second restaurants treat you vastly differently based on how you are dressed and they often forget that your dinning experience is more than the food it is also how you are treated.  This is going to be my blog about my dining adventures and critique of the food.


One of the things I came to expect and understand in this world is that people place a high value on how we look.  Should we care about ourselves and how we look of course.  However, we should care less about what other people think and more about what we think.
